September 2024: launching a new generation of Music Hubs  

In September 2024, the new Music Hub programme will begin delivering high-quality, accessible music education that helps all children and young people fulfil their musical interests in line with the aims and ambitions of the National Plan for Music Education

July 2024: new Hub Lead Organisations for London — South West and South Yorkshire announced

We will let applicants to the London — South West and South Yorkshire Music Hub areas know the outcome of their application in July so they are ready to begin their role in September 2024. 

Midday (12pm), Thursday 6 June 2024: deadline to apply to the London — South West and South Yorkshire Music Hub areas

To ensure the delivery of high quality music education right across England, we continued the search for new Hub Lead Organisations for the London - South West and South Yorkshire Music Hub areas between Thursday 25 April and Thursday 6 June 2024. The deadline to apply was 12pm (midday) on Thursday 6 June 2024

April – August 2024: funding agreement negotiation

In the months leading up to the launch of the new Music Hubs, we will work with new Hub Lead Organisations to negotiate their funding agreements and help them prepare to coordinate diverse, dynamic and strategic Music Hub partnerships from September 2024.   

You will receive a conditional offer for the Music Hub capital grant for musical instruments, equipment and technology once your funding agreement for the revenue grant has been finalised and signed.  

7 May 2024: new Hub Lead Organisations announced

We publicly announced the applicants we’ve invited to become new Hub Lead Organisations.

23 April 2024: further information published for the Music Hub revenue and capital grants

We published information and resources to help new Hub Lead Organisations negotiate their revenue grant funding agreement and to understand the key requirements for the capital grant for musical instruments, equipment and technology.

23 April 2024: London South West and South Yorkshire applicant guidance

We published the applicant guidance for organisations applying to become the new Hub Lead Organisations for London South West and South Yorkshire.

Monday 8 April 2024: decision notification  

On Monday 8 April, we notified applicants of the outcomes of the Music Hub Investment Programme.  

We have done this under embargo due to the pre-election period ahead of local elections, which requires a pause on communicating government funding publicly.  

We will make a public announcement in early May, after the local elections.

Monday 5 February 2024: timescale on decisions 

After the Music Hub Investment Programme application assessment process, we worked with the Department for Education to confirm decisions. We let applicants know our intention to share the outcomes of the Investment Programme in April 2024.

12pm (midday), Thursday 12 October 2023: application portal closes

Monday 10 July to Friday 18 August 2023: introductory conversations  

Everyone considering applying needed to have an introductory conversation with our team, even if they had previously been involved with a Music Education Hub.

Interested applications were invited to have an introductory conversation between Monday 10 July and Friday 18 August 2023 (see below).

Tuesday 18 July 2023: application portal opened  

Organisations could apply to be a new Hub Lead Organisation from 9am on Tuesday 18 July until 12pm (midday) on Thursday 12 October 2023.  

Wednesday 28 June 2023: Music Hub Investment Programme webinar 

On 28 June from 10am-12pm, we held a webinar to answer questions to support organisations as they prepared their applications.
