About us
Work in partnership
We are establishing
effective partnerships with a range of national, regional and local
organisations, both private and public.
We have a
Business partnerships policy [DOC 59KB] which covers our work with businesses, and is intended to shape mutually satisfactory agreements through open and structured partnerships at all levels. If you are a business and you are interested in talking to Arts Council England, please contact the Director Marketing and Brand Development.
We also work in close collaboration with local authorities at a local, regional and national level.
We have:
- increased local authority representation on all of our regional arts
councils;
- created a national framework for partnership agreements between local
authorities and our regional offices;
- held a national summit in November 2002 to begin to develop a shared vision
for the arts with local government;
- led a major project with our partners to develop a performance framework for
local authority arts services - this was published on the Audit Commission's
website in March 2003; and
- developed a strong working relationship with the Local Government
Association through our joint Arts Liaison Committee.
Some of our
partners include:

Regional Cultural Consortiums
(RCCs)
These are made up of representatives from the arts,
heritage, tourism, libraries, sport, archives, creative industries and local
government areas who work together to draw up a vision and priorities for the
future of culture in their region.
Further information is available
through these websites:
The Cultural
Strategy Group for London has a similar role to RCCs. It was appointed by Mayor
Ken Livingstone under the Greater London Authority Act.
Regional Development Agencies (RDAs)
The
Regional Development Agencies (RDAs) were established in April 1999 to further
the economic development and regeneration of the regions.
Regional assemblies
We are liaising with
the Government to inform thinking on the future role of regional assemblies in
relation to the arts and culture.
